Books to Look Forward To
Waiting anxiously for the next book in your favorite series? Well, then I've got a treat for you! With a little bit of diligent research I have found the release date for some of the most awaited books. Some are due soon (September) and some are ages away (next year), but they're all on their way....
A List series by Zoey Dean
- Blonde Ambition, due Sept. 1, 2004
The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
- The Golem's Eye, due Sept. 1, 2004
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
- The Grim Grotto, due Sept. 21, 2004
Trickster series by Tamora Pierce
- Trickster's Queen, due Sept. 28, 2004
Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
- You're the One that I Want, due Oct. 6, 2004
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
- Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood, due Jan. 25, 2005
And the winner for the longest wait (besides Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, of course):
The Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini
- The Eldest, due August 1, 2005
Some of these you can request right away (like Golem's Eye), others you'll have to wait for. Keep checking for them in the catalog and be the first to read the "next book"!
If there are any other books you're waiting for, email me at cshowman@mvlc.org and I'll look for them.

On a sadder note...
Paula Danziger, author of great books like The Cat Ate My Gymsuit, Snail Mail No More and This Place Has No Atmosphere as well as the Amber Brown series, died yesterday from complications from a heart attack. If you haven't read any of her books, I highly recommend picking one up - they're funny takes on what it's like to be a teen. Here's a list of some of her books. You can also check out our catalog, iPAC, and search for "Danziger".
Check out this TeenReads page for a great interview with Paula Danziger.

The Next Harry Potter
It's official! Both J.K. Rowling (on her website) and Scholastic have confirmed that the title of the sixth Harry Potter will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Read the article or check out Rowling's website for more information. (And, no, they didn't announce when the book will be out....but Order of the Phoenix will be out in paperback on August 10).
Holiday and Summer Hours
Just a reminder that the library is not open on Saturdays until after Labor Day. And this coming Monday, July 5, we will be closed to observe the 4th of July. So, stop by the library before we close today if you want any books/movies/CDs for the long weekend.
